Funeral
Funerals
Funerals are important occasions in our lives and in the grieving process. They provide an opportunity to thank God for the life of our loved one, reflect on the life they have lived, and commit them to God. It is always a privilege for us to be involved in someone’s funeral. There are several options for having a loved one’s funeral at Berkswell Church.
Burials
Berkswell churchyard is open for burials of parish residents and committed church members.
Cremation
We have various options for holding a funeral service at Berkswell, followed by a cremation. Some families choose to have the main part of the funeral service in the church and then have the committal in the church porch or the family may leave the church at this point and the minister goes with them for the committal at the crematorium. Other families may choose to have the whole service at the crematorium with a minister from Berkswell Church leading the service.
Interment of Ashes
Following cremation, some families want to have their loved one’s ashes buried in the churchyard so we have a special area set aside for this. By arrangement, a minister from the church will perform a short and simple service which includes prayers for your loved ones and commits them to God as their ashes are interred.
