24 September. 17
We will be celebrating Harvest Sunday on 24th September at Berkswell (St. John Baptist) Church. This is a colourful, very child friendly service, during which we give thanks to God for his goodness and bounty towards us. The prayers, readings, and the 'sermon slot' will be led by members of our various children' groups. The smallest (Sunbeams) will be asked at a point in the service to bring up to the Chancel the various goods and produce that people have brought, especially tins and dried food. These will be donated to two charities: Dudley Lodge in Coventry and 'Helping Hands' in Solihull.
This year we also have a guest speaker, Alsu Remi, from the Children's Society will be coming to talk to us about their work.
The Harvest Service is a traditional service in Berkswell. It starts at our usual time of 10 a.m. and lasts about an hour, followed by coffee and cake in the Jordan Room.
